Mercedes SL560 R107 review & testdrive
This was the first R107 SL for me to drive ever. And i think it is a really nice car. the driveability of the 35+ year old car was very good. It was very comfortable and the power delivery was very good. Even for the age the car feld not slow at all.
Considering that this is the low output version of the 560 engine. The 560 SL came only as a US Low emission version. This was never avalible in europe. but could be ordered outside europe in Japan Asia and canada. with european exterior specs. This is Japan new delivered car.
The power delivery was 230HP and 389nm max 5.6 version is w126 models could have up to 300HP and 455nm with 1-10 CR ration. This car has 1-9. But still this car outperformed the factory acceleration by a 1 sec. i did around 7 sec 0-100kph. Factory number is 8 sec
R107 is buils from 1971-1989 the SLC version from 1971-1981. Total build was 300175 cars with 237287 SL 62888 SLC and from the 237287 SL there were 49347 cars. what is almost 1/5 what is a lot considered that the where only build the last 4 years of production.
The m117 5.6 was a stroker 5.0 engine with a bore enlarged from 85mm to 94.5mm the bore stayed the same at 96,5mm. All 5.6 engine’s had KE-Jetronic this was introduced from 1985. every SL had a 4 speeds after 1980 the 722.3
