S124 V8 Turbo made 804HP and 1007NM on the Dyno !!!

So after some small street tuning with the car on ethanol blends 85% and 40%. It was time to go to the Dyno for the last time to get the final adjustements done

So the car has a flexfuel system.  I had a base tune in the car for regular pump fuel what is 95 oct E10 fuel.   we made 600+ crank on this.  Very good base tune.

Daniel from DW techsolutions is going to do the dyno tuning.  The goals is to hit 1000nm and between 750 and 800 crank HP.  This number shifted a litle but after the petrol tune i was sure we could run this.  The reason for limit the torque is to keep the drivetrain happy for a longer period.   also peak torque on petrol was below 4000rpm.  i like to shift this a little above 4000rpm.    Low torque numbes are hard on a engine and the power band is already massive .

the first pull on my street tune on E85 was getting 966nm around 3400rpm and 650hp at 6000rpm.  very good for a base tune.  We got the power up to 1000nm very easy so we limited with boost control duty to not go higher.  But the power level stopt at 705hp.  Up till this point a slight change in timing or boost would raise the power fast upwards up till this point.  So Daniel wiht his experience noticed that.

The conclusion was that the exhaust side of the turbo was at the max flow it could do.   When your run higher amounts of ethanol you produce also a lot more exhaust flow so this then you reach faster the max flow of the turbine.  The way Daniel has noticed that the VE value’s dropped .  so we made max 705HP and 1000NM limited.

Next was the E40 tune so i filled up the tank wiht regular petrol to lower the ethanol content.  Normall fuel has less volume of exhaust flow then ethanol so it was possible this would give is more room with this exhaust housing..

After some runs we hit the 804HP   at the crank.  We lower the boost duty cycle a little around 3500rpm so peak torque is now just over 4000rpm

So final results   804HP @5818rpm  and 1007NM @4676rpm    from around 3150rpm to 6100 rpm the torque level ie above 900NM

Offcourse there can be made always more power i think there is around 50hp left  maybe with this turbo.  And i can raise the torque level easy to 1100nm but that will give more stress on the engine.  I have now a smooth rising and stable power band
